Dear Schendel Families,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! It has been a great summer, and I am excited to have the opportunity to be the principal at Schendel Elementary and be able to work with such a great staff and community. I come to you with experience as a middle school administrator, elementary administrator, and an elementary teacher (I taught 2nd grade, 6th grade, and special education). I am excited to bring my abilities to Schendel and to work with you as a partner in your student’s education. I hope you and your student have enjoyed a wonderful summer with lots of fun adventures. I am excited to be back to work and look forward to seeing you and your student.
I want to give a big THANK YOU to our amazing staff for their hard work during the summer. Soon, teachers will be returning and getting their rooms organized and ready for our students. Also, many of our teachers spent time during their summer at conferences, trainings, and improving their craft for the benefit of our students. The office staff has been hard at work getting everything set up for the year to ensure a smooth opening to the school year. Our custodial staff has been working extra hard in getting the school clean and ready for another year.
Finally, I want to say thank you to all of our families for the support you give us. Families are the cornerstone of a student’s education and make such a difference in our ability to succeed as a school. We appreciate all of the volunteer hours and support you all give each and every year. This year we will have a variety of opportunities for you to be active and involved in your student’s success. We will have Second Cup of Coffee Parent Club, ELAC, School Site Council, and Classroom Volunteers. Please check our monthly calendar and quarterly Tiger Tracks for dates and opportunities.
Thank you for your support, I look forward to seeing you when school starts on August 7th, 2018! Student classroom assignments were sent home on the last day of school for 2018-2019, in addition, they will be posted at the A and C classroom buildings. Parent/Student Handbooks will be sent home during the first week of school along with student planners and other important forms.
We will continue to communicate with you regarding your student through student planners and telephone auto-dialers. Please be sure to check your child’s planner daily for teacher/parent communication, homework assignments, and notices from the school. It is important that you sign the planner daily to verify you have received all the important information to help support your child’s education. Remember school starts at 8:25, and students are allowed on campus at 7:45. Attendance is critical to your student’s success. Please be sure to send your student to school every day and on time! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the office at (209) 656-2040.
With your continued support and Schendel’s amazing staff we are going to have a great year as “A Family of Learners”! I look forward to seeing you August 7, 2018. Go Tigers!!!
